GKCOA softball &
baseball Information

GKCOA_baseball_710.jpeg

The goals of GKCOA-Baseball/Softball are to increase the quality, professionalism and numbers of baseball and softball umpires in the Greater Kansas City area.  To achieve these goals, we strive to better train our umpires, increase their knowledge of rules and mechanics, keep them updated on MSHSAA development, conduct meetings and clinics, and simply be available to provide any assistance we can to umpires regardless of age or experience.

We also serve as the liaison with MSHSAA and the Suburban Conference working closely with MSHSAA reps Terry Stevens (baseball Rules Interpreter) Bob Jones (baseball Mechanics Clinician) and Anita Robinet (softball Rules Interpreter and Mechanics Clinician) and Suburban Conference assignor Dan Ogle.

If you have questions or need more information, please contact Vice-President of Baseball-Softball Terry Stevens at 816-898-0711 or Tstevenskc@aol.com.

2022 meeting and Clinic information

2022 Meeting softball

Softball Preseason Meeting will be held on August 17th, at 6:30 PM at the Independence School District Administration Building.  We will be covering rules changes, points of emphasis and professional expectations for umpires.

Softball Mechanics Clinic:  MSHSAA is requiring all umpires with 3 years or less of experience to attend a mechanics clinic.  It is highly recommended for everyone.  The clinic will be held on Saturday August 13th and will be conducted by MSHSAA Mechanics Clinician, Anita Robinet.  Site and time are still TBA.  We hope to have these established as soon as possible.
